I can definitely say that Wednesday has fast become my favorite day of the week. Not only does it give me a chance to drink wine (not that I need one), but at this point I have tried as many wines as celebrities have breakups. I have come to love getting to try wines of all varietals and colors. One of my favorite things is seeing what the wine is named, especially the ones that are fun or unusual. The interesting title of this week’s pick is what made me buy it; it is simply called “The Other.” If your mind is in the gutter like mine your first thought is “it’s missing the woman;” especially since the label is sporting the outline of a nude woman. Clearly this is not a wine for the faint of heart. While the name makes you feel like something is missing, the wine certainly doesn’t. In fact, like the woman on the label, the wine is very buxom. Not French prostitute buxom; more like Rose “I want me to draw you like your French girls buxom. It has a very well rounded and sexy taste. Surprisingly it has a hit of bubble gum. Not something you’d expect to taste in a wine but it definitely works. The wine itself is a blend of whites; 65% Chardonnay, 25% Sauvingon Blanc and 10% Viogner. Like Miley Cyrus says “you get the best of both worlds;” or in this case both worlds plus one! Each varietal brings a different note to the overall taste giving it a large assortment of undertones. You can taste pears, apples, vanilla, coconut, lemon, and topical fruit. In Danish we call that a smorgasbord. I have to say that in this case “The Other” woman makes a nice manage a trois.
