WWOTW- Beringer: don’t adjust your screen you read that right ;)

ImageIt may snow in June because I writing about yet another red wine.  That’s about as rare as Hugh Heffner getting married.  What’s even more shocking is that the wine is from Beringer, a brand I had previously snubbed off as too sweet.  They certainly brought their A game this time, sporting a new taste and an updated label.  Ladies and gentleman this is not your mothers Beringer.  Their Founders Estate Cabernet Sauvingon packs a surprisingly sophisticated punch.  Combining flavors of dark cherries, vanilla and oak it, is reminiscent of an adult version of the ice cream.  Oh stop making the “ick face” that does not mean it is sickly sweet, it simply has those undertones.  It actually has a very smooth flavor and an even better finish.  I can see it going well with a nice juicy steak or a pork chop; it’s a very full bodied wine that demands a robust meal.   However, for having all that aroma, it is a very light wine.  It doesn’t have that usually syrupy thick oak taste that you get from a lot of red wines.  Instead it has a rather refreshing clean zest to it with just a hint of sweetness.   I can definitely say I’m officially a fan; I tasted the bottle, now I’m a believer.  Think it’s too good to be true and my carriage is going to turn out to be pumpkin, go buy it and try it yourself.

Keep your wallets full and your mouth happy
